What is the circular economy and how do we apply it at Subiñas?

The circular economy is a production and consumption model that promotes the efficient use of resources, reducing waste to a minimum.

This approach is based on reusing, repairing, refurbishing, and recycling existing materials and products for as long as possible.

We also aim to reduce our carbon footprint by partnering with suppliers near our facilities.

At Subiñas, we incorporate these practices into the production of springs and frames, using recyclable materials and minimising the use of non-renewable resources.

This way, we ensure that the spring frames produced for bedding are designed to be durable, prolonging the final product’s lifespan and reducing the need for frequent replacements

At all our production plants, springs and frames are manufactured and assembled using efficient resource management practices.

In these facilities, production processes are designed to reduce energy consumption and material waste.

Using advanced technologies for frame encapsulation improves efficiency and minimises material waste.

Furthermore, the company promotes recycling of the materials used in its products’ manufacture.

The metal waste generated during the production process is collected and sent to recycling plants, closing the material life cycle and preventing it from accumulating as waste.

Our products are 100% recyclable

Steel stands out as the most efficient recycling material, becoming the main benchmark in this field, with a recycling rate reaching almost 100%.

In this regard, Ecocolchón is an initiative in the bedding sector to promote sustainability in our sector.

It was founded in September 2023 as a Collective Producer Responsibility System (SCRAP), a non-profit entity. Its goal is to manage the end of mattresses’ life to minimise their environmental impact, promoting eco-design and responsible behaviours among consumers.

Photovoltaic solar plant: 700 kW self-consumption installation on the roof of the warehouse in Munguía, and 100 kW on the roof of the warehouse in Martos

SUBIÑAS SPRINGS SL obtained 2 grants for their respective photovoltaic installations of 700 kW in Munguía (Vizcaya) and 100 kW in Martos (Jaén).

This project is part of the incentive program for self-consumption and storage, with renewable energy sources, as well as the implementation of renewable thermal systems in the residential sector within the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU.

This project falls under component C7:l1 RENEWABLE ENERGY GENERATION ACTION of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan.
